Well I keep waiting really long times in between posts....grrrrr.

I have gone back on my diet since my last post and have lost 11 pounds so far. I hope to take off ALL my excess weight before next summer. I am getting older and it only makes it harder with each passing year to take it off. I need to lose it now before I get all hunch backed and using a walker. Even thin I won't look hot old... :)

The Illiana Radio Club will be setting up at the America's Night Out at Fairbanks Park. That should be a nice visit with everyone. I am hoping that we have a good turn out and I'll enjoy seeing everyone before the next meeting. We will be sitting up our banner etc and hope to have alot of visitors.

Lord of the Flys

I started my week and day off in a very bizarre way. I still don't have a clue as to what brought this one or how they got there but.....

I walked in the door of my office today and the alarm is set and all appears relatively fine. I haven't checked the back doors yet because I notice the bathroom door is closed and the plastic runner in front of it is all crunched up. Like someone slip on the runner and bunched it into the door and then attempted to shut the door on it. I put my hand on the door knob and peek in. The light is on and through the small opening I can see the mirror which has about 50 flys on it! Huge, full grown flys. I was in this office at 1:30 on Friday so there is no way they could have grown that fast. I have no idea how or why they were in there.

At first I thought that perhaps a junkie or homeless person was in there behind the door dead....with that many flies I really expected the worse. I swung the door open and looked in and all was clear. I ended up swatting ALL of them and the ones that escaped out into the office and then swept, washed, disinfected and vacuumed until I felt I had cleaned it all away. YUCK! I have no clue what happened here over the weekend. John was here for a little bit on Saturday but still????

Field Day 2009 Has Come and Gone

The W9IRC group has had their first Field Day together and it was a blast! I must say that it was my favorite FD of all thus far. Laid back, relaxed and friendly. When visitors showed up, they were talked to. When operators showed up, radio's were graciously turned over for someone else to get a chance. We had people on the air that had either never been on the air as of yet with their licenses or hadn't been for years.

The company as great, the food was great and break down from start to finish lasted a total of 45 minutes. When we were done, there wasn't even a cigarette butt left in the grass!
